Communications Student Support Center
What Can You Expect from a Writing Consultation?
• We, in the CSSC, want to assist you in finding problem
areas in your writing and offer you helpful suggestions to correct
them.
• Our goal is to have you leave the writing consultation as
a stronger, more confident writer so you can produce an even better
paper next time.
• Improvements to your paper are part of this process, so
your paper will surely leave the consultation even better than when
it came in.
• However, not all of your errors may be addressed. Sometimes,
an instructional assistant may feel that it is more important to
help you better understand a grammar or writing skill, rather than
identifying your mistakes.
• Usually, we will cover most things, but there is always
a possibility that we may not.
• As a writer, your paper is ultimately your responsibility,
so you are responsible for all decisions made during the writing
process, including proofreading and editing.
• We will not write or proofread your paper for you, but we
look forward to doing all we can to help you become a better writer.
