Michele McArdle, Dean of Winter Park Campus

Michele McArdle, Dean of Winter Park CampusMichele McArdle has been with Valencia Community College since 1990 and currently is the Dean for Credit Programs at the Winter Park Campus. She is a member of the Leadership Team which was selected for the Outstanding Leader Award by the Academy for Leadership Training and Development. Ms. McArdle has a Bachelor of Arts from Seton Hill University and a Master of Arts from Duquesne University. Both degrees were awarded in psychology and both institutions are located in Pennsylvania. Ms. McArdle has continued her academic studies at the University of Pittsburgh, Sarasota College, and the University of Central Florida.

 

Carol D'Avella, Administrative Assistant to the Dean

Carol D'Avella, Administrative Assistant to the DeanCarol D’Avella joined the Winter Park Campus credit department in January 2003 as Administrative Assistant to the Dean. She is on the Wellness Committee and is a strong advocate of health and safety issues. Prior to joining Valencia, she worked as a Certified Dental Assistant specializing in dental surgery for 25 years in Central Florida. She has her A.S. degree from Valencia in Office Systems Technology/Specializing in Office Management, Certification for AMA Administrative Assistants Program, and dental assisting certification from Orlando Tech. Ms. D’Avella remains current in both her administration and dental education training.

 

Carol Johnson, Program Manager, Credit Programs

Carol Johnson, Program Manager, Credit ProgramsCarol Johnson has worked with the Valencia Instructional Program since 1981 and is presently Program Manager, Credit Programs at the Winter Park Campus. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and a Master of Arts Degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Johnson taught school for six years in Ohio and Texas prior to coming to Valencia. She is an active Board Member of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges and a member of the Florida Association of Community Colleges.

 

Peggy Johnson, Staff Assistant

Peggy Johnson, Staff AssistantPeggy Johnson has been employed at Valencia since 1998. She is staff assistant to Mrs. Carol Johnson in the credit department. Ms. Johnson is the Staff Council Chair for Winter Park Campus and past president of the African American Cultural Society Club. She is also pursuing her A.A. degree in psychology at Valencia Community College.

 

 

Patti Riva, Evening/Weekend Manager

photo Patti Riva has been with Valencia Community College since 1997 and currently is the Evening and Weekend Manager at the Winter Park Campus. She served as the President of Valencia Community College’s AAWCC (American Association for Women in Community Colleges) chapter from 2003 - 2005. Ms. Riva has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Public Relations from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and a Master’s of Social Work (specializing in Gerontology) from the University of Hawaii in Manoa.
