Cooperative Learning Community (CLC)

The Cooperative Learning Community on the Winter Park Campus was created to help students achieve academic success and establish academic and social support networks, encourage faculty integration and development of curriculum, and bring faculty, staff, and students together in meaningful ways. We have developed a connected campus curriculum that provides students in targeted courses the opportunity to broaden the scope of their knowledge, abilities, and experiences. Instructors have integrated study skills, personal achievement activities, and course content to create a campus curriculum that will focus initially on preparatory students.

The Cooperative Learning Community is a supportive and connected learning environment for our students and us. Current research results tell us that these types of interaction promote greater student achievement, foster a sense of belonging, and increase retention rates. It is our intent for this Cooperative Learning Community to be a positive and rewarding experience for our students and all who work here.

Each area of our campus is involved in making the CLC successful. The CLC faculty is primarily involved in curriculum integration and development. We will also begin expanding the CLC to include additional full-time and adjunct faculty teaching preparatory and introductory level courses. The campus staff members are involved as Success Coaches who helps the students complete several course assignments that utilize the LifeMap products. The support centers on campus provide instructional and motivational assistance for faculty and students. The CLC brings all these groups together to create a more learning centered and rewarding college experience for students, faculty, and staff.
