Radiography

Meet Our Team

Julie Program ChairJulie McCaughtry, BS, RT(R)(CT)

Program Chair Radiography

I have been with Valencia since 1990 when the program converted from a certificate program to an A.S. Degree program. I am credentialed in radiography and have been working in the imaging profession since 1970.  As an example of life long learning, I am a graduate of Halifax Medical Center’s Radiography Program, Daytona Beach Community College and University of Central Florida.  I have experienced working in both large and small hospitals, and imaging and orthopedic outpatient centers, but the majority of my career has been devoted to education.  I have been a Radiography Program Director for 27 years.  One of my joys in life is being part of the process that educates students to achieve their goals of becoming excellent radiographers.

My husband and I live in Lake Helen, Florida, in an 1892 Victorian home.  We enjoy antiques, travel, and reading.  We have 4 beautiful, accomplished daughters, 2 adorable grandchildren, and not to be forgotten, the family Cairn terrier, “Dingo”.

I have been working at Valencia since 2001. Prior to Valencia I taught at UCF for eight years in the radiography program.  I have been in the radiography field since 1992 and am currently still a pool employee of St. Cloud Regional Hospital.

I live in St. Cloud and enjoy country living with my husband and two daughters.  We have two cats, one dog, a hamster and many fish.  I enjoy reading, spending time out doors and especially enjoy going to the beach.

Adjunct Didactic and Clinical Professor

A.S. degree, Radiography, A.R.R.T Certified RT (R). Currently seeking certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

I am a graduate from Valencia Community College in 1996. I am currently working on completing certificate program in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

I joined Valencia as an adjunct faculty member in August, 1999.  Prior to Valencia, I worked for one year at a Level One trauma center and I am currently employed on a per diem basis at Jewett Orthopedic Clinic as a staff technologist.

On a personal note, I was born and raised in Orlando and I have a beautiful daughter and wonderfully supportive husband. We have a very active Jack Russell Terrier named “Laela” who loves to be outside with us.  I began teaching in Environmental Science and Biology many years ago and Radiography seemed a natural progression. Radiography is a dynamic field and you must be willing to learn and grow as the technology changes.  I truly enjoy being part of the process that helps students obtain their goals as they become life-long learners, seeking to become excellent Radiologic Technologists and beyond.
