Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Do I need to be a student at Valencia to apply to the MRI Program?
A: Yes. You must apply to the college before you submit an MRI application. You can apply online at www.valenciacc.edu/admissions or contact Enrollment services at enrollment@valenciacc.edu to begin the application process with Valencia.
Q: What courses do I need to take prior to applying to the MRI program?
A: None, however applicants must submit documentation of current certification in one of the following:
- Radiography(ARRT)
- Radiation Therapy (ARRT)
- Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT) or (NMTCB)
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARRT or ARDMS)
or be registry eligible in one of the above modalities.
Students must complete certification in one of the above modalities by MRI program completion
Q: Are the courses offered online?
A: Yes. The MRI program is online with the exception of the clinical component.
Q: Will my courses from other colleges transfer to Valencia?
A: Once you have applied to Valencia, you will need to request official transcripts sent from your previous institution. The admissions office will evaluate all transcripts once they are received to determine transfer credit.
Q: Do I need to take the Nursing Entrance Test (NET) before I apply?
A: No, MRI applicants do not need to take the NET.
Q: What is the deadline to apply to the MRI Program?
A: The deadline to apply is July 1st of each year.
Q: How many students are accepted into the MRI program and how often?
A: The MRI program accepts 15 students per year. The MRI program begins once each year in August for the fall term.
Q: Where do I send my application when I'm ready to apply?

Q: What is the schedule like if I am accepted into the MRI program.
A: We are assigning clinical hours on an individual basis. The clinical course is 240 hours, so if you could do 3 eight hours days/week it would last for 10 weeks. We will require a minimum of 12 hours/week. Depending on the site's patient load, clinical time may be on evenings and weekends as well as daytime.
Q. Where do you offer clinicals?
A. Clinical assignment will be at facilities that Valencia Community College has affiliation agreements with for risk management purposes, i.e., Orlando Regional Healthcare, Kissimmee Outpatient Center, Osceola Regional Medical Center. If you can cross train on the job, that would be perfect. Our clinical course follows the ARRT clinical requirements. Check www.arrt.org If you meet their requirements and submit a copy to us we will award credit for the clinical course.
