Q: Do I need to be a student at Valencia to apply to the Paramedic/EMS Program?
A: Yes. You must apply to the college before you can register for EMT or submit a Paramedic application. You can apply online at valenciacc.edu/admissions/ to begin the application process with Valencia.
Q: How do I get started on the EMT Applied Technology Diploma?
A: There are no prerequisites for the EMT courses but all three must be taken at the same time. Students register for EMS 1119, EMS 1119L, EMS 1431 for a total of 11 credit hours. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on the West and Osceola Campuses in the morning from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or evening from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. After completion of all courses with a passing grade of āCā or greater, your name will be sent to Department of Health Bureau of EMS in Tallahassee so you are eligible for state certification.
Q: What do I need to do prior to applying to the Paramedic program?
A: You must prove possession of Current Florida EMT Certificate and have completed or be registered in BSC 1084 - Essentials of Human Structure & Function.
Q: Do I have to take the EMT courses at Valencia to apply to the Paramedic program?
A: No, you just need to attach a copy of your Current Florida EMT Certificate with your application to the program.
Q: Will my courses from other colleges transfer to Valencia?
A: Once you have applied to Valencia, you will need to request official transcripts sent
from your previous institution. The admissions office will evaluate all transcripts once they
are received to determine transfer credit.
Q: What is the deadline to apply to the Paramedic Program?
A: Students wishing to attend on the Osceola campus must apply to the program by November 1st.
Students wishing to attend on the West campus must apply to the program by July 1st.
