Selection Criteria
The College-wide Health Science Programs Admission Committee uses the following point system to GUIDE them in the selection of qualified students to be admitted to the Dental Hygiene Program. (maximum of 35 possible points) I. Grade Point Average - Dental Hygiene curriculum General Education Courses

IV.Completion of all Dental Hygiene courses listed in section III with a 2.5 GPA or higher by application deadline. (5 Points)
V. Dental Assisting Education/Certification/Work Experience
Graduate of an ADA Accredited Dental Assisting Program (2 points)
AND/OR
Certified Dental Assistant with Current certification; All 3 parts (1 point)
OR
On the job trained dental assistant;Min 30 hrs/wk for 12 consecutive months (1 point)
VI.Other (1 Point)
Tech Prep (Documentation of high school transcript)
OR
HSC 1531 Medical Terminology taken at VCC
OR
HSC 1004 Professions of Caring
