Q: Do I need to be a student at Valencia to apply to the Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) Program?
A: Yes. You must apply to the college before you submit a CVT application. You can apply online or contact Enrollment services at enrollment@valenciacc.edu to begin the application process with Valencia.
Q: What courses do I need to take prior to applying to the CVT program?
A: The required pre-requisite course is BSC 2093C – Human Anatomy and Physiology I. However, due to the high number of applicants and the selection point process, it is recommended to have the following courses completed (with a C or better) before you apply to CVT:
- ENC 1101 - Freshman Composition
- PSY 1012 - General Psychology
- MAC 1150 - College Algebra
- BSC 2094C - Anatomy and Physiology II
- MCB 2010C – Microbiology
- PHY 1007C - Physics
- Elective - Humanities or Fine Arts
- HSC 1004 - Professions of Caring
- HSC 1531 - Medical Terminology
Q: Are the Pre-requisite courses offered online?
A: Yes. The general education courses are offered on campus and online. However, science courses must be completed on campus.
Q: Do I have to take all the pre-requisites at a particular campus?
A: No, you may take the pre-requisite course at any Valencia campus location. However, if accepted, CVT courses are only offered on the west campus.
Q: Will my courses from other colleges transfer to Valencia?
A: Once you have applied to Valencia, you will need to request official transcripts sent from your previous institution. The admissions office will evaluate all transcripts once they are received to determine transfer credit.
Q: Do I need to take the Nursing Entrance Test (NET) before I apply?
A: Yes. You must complete the NET at a Valencia Assessment Center and receive a 65% on the overall composite score and 65% on the reading composite score.
Q: What is the minimum cumulative GPA to apply to the CVT program?
A: The minimum GPA required to apply to the program is 2.5.
Q: What is the deadline to apply to the CVT Program?
A: The deadline to apply is June 1st of each year.
Q: About how many students apply to the CVT program?
A: Approximately 65-75 students apply to the program each year.
Q: How many students are accepted into the CVT program and how often?
A: The CVT program accepts 16 students per year. The program begins once each year in August.

Q: What is the schedule like if I am accepted into the CVT program.
A: The schedule is M-F during the day. We do not offer a part time or an evening program. Clinical hours vary each semester from 16-24 hours per week in addition to the required credit hours of class/lab time. Driving to distant clinical locations may be required.
