EDF 2005 Introduction to Education

I began my career at Valencia five years ago as Outreach Coordinator for Health Sciences. My current role is Manager for Health Science Advising and I advise students who are currently enrolled in a Health Science program at Valencia. My BS is in Education from the University of Alabama and M.Ed is in Curriculum and Instruction from National-Louis University in Tampa. I am currently enrolled at the University of Florida working on my Doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration.

I recently married in August 2007. We enjoy traveling to new places and love to go to the beach every chance we get. In my little spare time, I enjoy horseback riding, bike riding, and love football season. I am a dog and animal lover and have four dogs, Sadie and Sydney, Shepherd/Lab mixes and two German Shepherds, Bear and Bentley who are otherwise known as my children and treated as such.

Career Program Advisor

My academic career began at the State University of NY College at Brockport where I earned a B.S. in Health Sciences.  I also received a M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

I have worked in higher Education since 1998 in various areas including, Housing and Residence Life, Continuing Education, Professional Development, and Adult Education.  I began working at Valencia in July 2007 where I advise students seeking admission to all Health Science programs.  As an advisor with the Division of Health Sciences at Valencia I am fortunate to be able to utilize both my undergraduate degree in Health Science and my graduate degree in Higher Education Administration.

Outside of work, my time is spent with my husband and son.  We have two dogs and two cats.  We enjoy sports, hiking, camping, and hanging out with our family.

Health Science Advising Assistant

I began working for Valencia as a Health Science Advising Assistant in
July, 2008. I provide assistance to those students who are interested
in pursuing an academic career in one of our many health science
programs. I am currently a student in the Respiratory Care program here at Valencia. I will graduate in August 2009 and further my education through UCF's bachelor program.

My professional goal is to work in a neonatal unit among Orlando's medical elite and continue ongoing support for cancer awareness in our community.

I enjoy fitness training, college football, reading my text books at the beach and planning my upcoming wedding in my spare time.
