Joyce Romano
Vice President, Student Affairs
Chanda Torres
Student Development Collegewide Director
Chanda Torres earned her B.S. in Foreign Language Education and
her M.A. in Student Personnel from the University of Central Florida.
She is currently pursuing a Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction with
a specialization in community colleges from the University of Central
Florida.
Chanda brings a variety of student development and student affairs
experience including serving as an educational advisor, student
development advisor, Valencia Volunteers coordinator, grants program
advisor/coordinator and supplemental learning coordinator. Miss
Torres has also worked in student activities at UCF and has taught
the Student Success course since 2005.
Miss Torres is also Myer-Briggs (MBTI) certified, a recipient of
the District II Student Government Association (SGA) Advisor of
the year award, a certified diversity trainer, a published author
and currently the Student President of Kappa Delta Pi, an international
Honors Society at the Univerisity of Central Florida.
Victor Collazo
Student Development Coordinator
West Campus
Before becoming the Student
Development Coordinator at Valencia's West Campus Victor held a
number of positions in Student Affairs including the Interim Director
for the UCF Arena for 3 years, Associate Director of the Student
Center (Student Union) at UCF for 7 years, and the Assistant Dean
of Students at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA for 3 years.
He started his
formal education with kindergarten at Liberty Street School
in Middletown, NY and ultimately graduated from Middletown High
School. After graduating, Victor spent several years in the Air
Force (Electronics Technology) before going to Daytona Beach Community
College. After receiving his AA at DBCC, Victor went to UCF (it
was FTU when he started) where he received his Bachelor's degree
in Secondary Education - Social Sciences. Victor then received his
Master's Degree from The Florida State University in Student Personnel
Administration.
Dan Geraghty
Student Development Coordinator
Osceola Campus
Dan earned his BA in Humanities from the University of Central
Florida and his MBA from the University of Phoenix. Before becoming
Valencia's Osceola Campus Student Development Coordinator, Dan previously
served as the Student Development Advisor on the East Campus as
well as the College Transitions Coordinator on the Osceola Campus.
Sunni
Prevatt
Advising/Activities Coordinator
Winter Park Campus
Ms. Prevatt has served Valencia as a Peer Educator, Curriculum
Assistant, Educational Advisor, Student Services Specialist, and
now the Student Development Advising/Activities Coordinator on the
Winter Park Campus.
She graduated from Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA.
After graduation, Sunni served in the U.S. Marine Corps for over
five years. She started her formal education at Valencia Community
College. As a Valencia student, Ms. Prevatt was a member and officer
of Phi Theta Kappa, Beta Iota Mu chapter. After earning her AA in
General Studies from Valencia, Sunni went to Rollins College where
she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Behavior.
Gerald Jones
Student Development Coordinator
East Campus
Gerald Jones received his B.A. in Political Science and his M.A.
in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida.
His 10+ year career in higher education includes the following roles:
Graduate Assistant to several student organizations, leadership
coordinator, Post-Secondary Transition Specialist, College Reach-Out
Program (CROP) Coordinator and adjunct professor of Student Success.
Gerald is also a published author of two best-selling books, Together
On One Accord and Speak Those Things:Achieving Succes by
What You Say. The message in his books, along with his passion
for leadership development and higher learning, has caused Mr. Jones
to be one of the most requested speakers for leadership seminars
and diversity forums for several corporations, and institutions
of higher learning.
Mr. Jones is also a proud member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,
Inc.
