Purpose

The West Campus Staff Council was established in 2000 to address the employee concerns, encourage development, and provide a collective voice to the Collegewide Staff Council for all full- and part-time Career Service employes on West. The Council provides an opportunity to voice your opinions on any issues or concerns you may have (positive or negative) to improve your working environment. Please note that names are not connected to any issues. West Campus issues are taken to the Provost for action, while collegewide issues are taken to the College Operating Council for action.

Objectives

The Staff Council was created

• to promote the continued development of a professional environment for all career employees of the College;
• to promote effective cooperation and communication between the administration of the colege and the career employees;
• to encourage positive employee attitudes that wiell aid in attracting and maintaining a competent and dedicated career staff employee;
• to provide suggestions that will contribute to the attainment of College goals.

Meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month beginning at 2:00 p.m. Meetings are approximately 90 minutes long, and all full-time and part-time Career Service employees on West Campus are invited and encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings. Email notfications are sent to all West Campus Career Service employees (full- and part-time) regarding upcoming meetings at least one week in advance. Nominations and Election of Officers and Representatives

Nominations were recently held for the Co-Chair position for 2008. The new Co-Chairs are Chris Moore, Library, and Pat Lee, Student Development. Our goal is to have active represenation from all segments of West Campus, including Facilities, Plant Operations, Bookstore, Business Office, Security, Staff Assistants, Library, Student Services, and Academic Affairs.

Your ideas and suggestions are needed and welcomed. If you are interested in being a vital part of the West Campus Staff Council, please contact Susan Russo at extension 1299.
