Collegewide Staff Council Meeting

Special Guest: Cheryl Williams, Florida Community College at Jacksonville

Absent: Janice Wentworth (OSC)

Dr. Stone reported that the College Planning Council is seeking to add a Career Staff representative to the council. The term would be for two years. Carol Janz volunteered to serve on the College Planning Council and the Staff Council approved her to serve for the two years.

Lorraine Whipple discussed the need to update membership on the Career Staff Grievance Committee, and the newly created Staff Councils seemed to be the most logical venue through which to elect committee members. After a brief discussion of the membership and purpose of the Grievance Committee, council members requested that each campus have its own representative and alternate, rather than sharing them. Lorraine indicated that this would need to be approved, and may even require a policy change, but she would into it.

Cheryl Williams, current President of the Career Employees Council of Florida Community College at Jacksonville, visited with Valencia=s Collegewide Career Staff representatives to discuss FCCJ=s Career Employees Council. Ms. Williams reviewed the Council=s history, objectives, bylaws, major accomplishments, Excellence Awards Program and its Nomination Questionnaire, fund raising efforts and staff brochure.

Following discussion with Ms. Williams regarding the different aspects of FCCJ=s Career Employees Council, Dr. Stone indicated that he would have the materials Ms. Williams brought copied and distributed to each of the council members.

The next meeting is scheduled for August 14, 2001 at Osceola Campus.
