Winter Park Campus Provost Welcome Back!
Welcome back. Spring is a time of expectation and
growth. The trees begin to bud a bright green, flowers start growing,
and students start again fresh with new opportunities and challenges.
Some of you will graduate this term; others may be at the start
of their educational career. Wherever you are in your educational
journey, the faculty and staff at the Winter Park Campus are here
to assist you in achieving your goals. I urge each of you to set
reasonable goals for yourself for the spring term. Maybe this term
you are determined to be more focused on your course work. Or you
might want to explore our LifeMap tools and other programs that
link students to all the components of Valencia , such as our faculty,
staff, course offerings, technology, and programs and services.
You may resolve to devote more time to studying, or you may strive
to become more social and get to know some of your classmates, join
a club, or become involved in student government. Whatever your
goals, we have the people and technology to help you along the way.
Many of our staff volunteer to be success coaches
to assist and support you. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you
need it. Ask anyone here on campus where to direct you if you want
help, or feel free to come and see me. We are a community dedicated
to you, our students. Best wishes for a successful and productive
spring term.

your laptop and start surfing!
- Career Center
If you are unsure about your career goal or what major you may
need to get you there, I encourage you to stop by Career Development
Services located in room 104. The Career staff can talk with you
about your interests, personality, skills, and values to help
you clarify or confirm your career goals and keep you headed in
the right direction. You can also research 4-year colleges and
universities to get transfer information prior to graduation,
so you can meet all your pre-requisites here and choose the school
that's right for you to complete your bachelor's degree
- Atlas Access Lab
The Atlas Access Lab is an on-campus computer lab
that offers you the opportunity to log into Atlas to check your
Atlas e-mail, register for classes, check your financial aid status,
and get information about college events. Additionally, this lab
can be used for completing course assignments by offering Internet
access to conduct research as well as the Microsoft Office package,
so you can type papers or create PowerPoint presentations. Stop
by room 217 to get started.

- Student Government
Student Development and the Student Government Association
(SGA) have been hard at work building a comprehensive student
activity calendar for the campus. You will find a wide array of
activities at Winter Park throughout the year.
A number of our student leaders graduated last year creating openings
in many key leadership roles. Some of the student leader positions
offer scholarships, on-campus jobs, or tuition reimbursement,
so your involvement can have financial benefits as well as adding
to your professional development resume. To learn more about these
and other opportunities and activities, visit the Student Development
and SGA Office in Room 122 or check out the online calendar at
http://valenciacc.edu/calendar/calendar.cfm?catid=27 .

Enhancements to the Library include additional shelving units
to house more books and CDs and DVDs, as well as 3 new Dell computer
media stations equipped with TV tuners, VHS/DVD players, and headphones
