Sanford C. Shugart, PH.D. Evidence of the Big Bang
It seems the poet missed the mark,
but slightly.
Things do not merely fall apart.
With incalculable velocity
They Flee.
So declare the oracles of the frigid faith
who probe irreverently
the crystalline abyss and gaze
through the vacuum of the vast before
Unmoved
"Like spots on an inflating balloon," they explain,
all that is or was or ever will be
scatters to oblivion
as if all matter were possessed of
Legion's Madness
Could this be the source of our disconsolation?
what Author of Irony fashioned creatures
in the Image of Community
only to maroon them in a universe where
Distance is Law
