Subject: Loss of a Valencia Friend

It is with sadness that we share with you the passing of our dear friend, Raymer Maguire, Jr. He is known by most of us as the Father of Valencia Community College. He has been a friend, an advocate, a supporter, a leader and an inspiration in making education accessible to all residents of Orange and Osceola Counties. Just recently he was named 2003 Philanthropist of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

The only building on Valencia's campuses named after an individual is the Raymer F. Maguire Jr. Learning Resources Center, so dedicated for his commitment and service to our college.
