Process of Excellence
Nominations
Any Valencia member or group of members (individually named) may nominate
a candidate for the annual Process of Excellence Showcase recognition. The
persons nominating become sponsors of the candidate and will be linked,
publicly, to the work of the candidate. Those nominating then are publicly
saying of the work: this is what we consider to be excellent work; not just
good, not just very good, but excellent. A completed nomination form must
also accompany the submission of the work.
A spark award is considered for those students who have excelled on
a particular project or assignment. Please submit all spark nominees
to Ellen Pastorino in 1-224 or mail code 6-1.
An on-going excellence award is considered for those students who have
consistently demonstrated excellence in a particular discipline. On-going
nominations are submitted to the discipline sub-committee chairs:
Science: Melody Boeringer
Math: Deborah Howard
Behavioral Sciences: Ellen Pastorino
Communications: Ron Colburn
The Process of Excellence committee and sub-committees will need to
see the work, in addition to hearing testimonials about it. Audiotapes,
videotapes, portfolios or other artifacts can serve this purpose. The
committee will select the work for recognition and candidates will then
present their work at the Showcase on May 10, 2002. The presentations
will be in poster session format in a large room, or in smaller rooms
for individual readings (speeches, poetry, and the like), or in an auditorium
format. A candidate will showcase in one of these settings, as deemed
appropriate by the committee.
If you have questions or need additional information, contact Ellen
Pastorino at the Osceola Campus, Building 1, Room 224, telephone extension
4814.
