In summer of 2007, Valencia opened a pilot campus in the virtual world
of Second Life. The campus, located on EduIsland 4, is now three buildings,
stacked vertically several hundred meters in the air. You can access the
upper building via teleporter, or with a jetpack.
The ground floor is a meeting area and welcome center which contains
a "holographic" projector, as well as links to Valencia's websites.

In order to obtain an avatar and visit the Valencia Community College
virtual campus, just click the Sign Up Now button.
Basic SL accounts are FREE. When you create your Second Life account,
you will choose an avatar name, which you will need to join the Valencia

IMPORTANT UPDATE: If you use your Valencia email address to sign up, or any email address ending in a .edu, you will need to provide age verification to Second Life. No one under the age of 18 is allowed on the Main Grid, and an education domain in your email address will automatically trigger the age verification process. You can contact Second Life Support to get your age verified (you will need to copy your ID and send it to them.)
If you are a student, you can join the Valencia Community College Students
group.
Once you have entered the Second Life Grid, click the “Search”
button at the bottom of the window to search for the group called “Valencia
Community College Students.” Joining the group is FREE. As a member,
you can easily communicate with other Valencia students in Second Life,
as well as receiving notices of interest to you.
If you are a faculty or staff, please send an email, and request to join the Valencia Faculty and Staff group.
