Students may check out audiovisual materials at the Check-Out Desk (1st floor) for use within the library only. A Valencia student ID card is required to check out audiovisual materials. DVD and VHS Viewing Location: 1st floor (6-101): DVDs and VHS tapes may be viewed at six stations on the first floor. Headphones are required and are available for check-out at the check-out desk. Headphones Headphones are required when playing sound, and are available for check-out at the check-out desk. A Valencia student ID card is required to check out headphones. CD Burning CD Burning is possible in the first floor Computer Access Lab (6-101).Course-Specific Software Course-specific software is preloaded on computers in the Computer Access Lab (1st floor: 6-101). E-mail Quick Check Computers E-mail Quick Check Computers on the 1st floor (6-101) are open access and do not require a log in. Sessions will time out after 15 minutes. Quick Check Computers on the Library Loft (2nd floor) require an Atlas Log In and Atlas PIN number. Internet Use Guidelines These Guidelines for Acceptable Internet Use apply to Research Computers on the 2nd floor (6-201) and the first floor Computer Access Lab (6-101). Laptop & Wireless Access Students may bring their own laptop computers and plug them into available outlets on both the first and second floors (6-101 and 6-201). Please note the library will NOT provide technical support or servicing for students' personal computers. Wireless access is enabled throughout Building 6. Access to the Wireless Network requires an Atlas log-in and Atlas PIN. For details on how to connect, go to http://www.valenciacc.edu/wireless/howto.cfm Lock-Down Browser for Test-Taking The lock-down browser is pre-installed on all computers in the first floor Computer Access Lab (6-101) and on all the second floor Research Computers (6-201). Research Computers Location: 2nd floor (6-201): Research computers require an Atlas Log In and Atlas PIN number. Copying, Printing & MoreCopying Locations: 1st floor (6-101) and 2nd floor (6-201): Photocopiers are available on both the first and second floors of the library. Copying is in grayscale only and costs $.10 per page. Students must purchase a print/copy card to pay for prints and photocopies. A $1 bill is required to purchase a card for the first time at the library. The balance can be increased thereafter in $1, $5, $10 or $20 increments. Print/Copy card vending machines are located in 6-101 and 6-201. Print/Copy cards are also available at the campus bookstore. Text scanning is not available and scanning of personal photos for recreational use is not permitted. Tape Duplication Location: Check-Out Desk: 1st floor. Students must bring their own cassette tapes. Reserves, Holds & Interlibrary LoanReserves Location: Check-Out Desk, 1st floor: Professors may place items on Reserve for students to use within the library. In addition, some textbooks are available for student use within the library. For information on check out guidelines for Reserve items, please see Check Out & Borrowing. Holds & Interlibrary Loan Please see Interlibrary Loan & Hold Procedures for information. Research Help & Library InstructionInformation Desk Location: 2nd floor (6-201): Librarians are available to instruct users on accessing and retrieving information from library resources. Librarians staff the Information Desk Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and Sunday 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Library Instruction Faculty and Staff, please see our Faculty and Staff: Library Instruction Services web page for information on scheduling a library instruction session. Library instruction sessions are held in Electronic Classrooms 6-220, 6-221 (second floor) and 6-118 (first floor). Instruction sessions are also held in the Computer Access Lab. Study AreasGroup Study Location: 1st floor (6-101): Tables are available on the first floor for groups to meet and study. Quiet Study Location: 2nd floor (6-201): The second floor of the library is reserved for quiet study. Cell phones may not be used in this area and cell phone conversations must be moved to the adjacent lobby. Headphones and quiet conversations are permitted. Discreet snacks and beverages may be consumed but are not permitted at computer workstations. Quiet Study Room: 2nd floor (6-201B): Enter the library 2nd floor through the double doors (6-201) and turn to your left. Quiet Study room is located at the end of the corridor, near the "A" call numbers. All students entering Quiet Study agree to:
