Design
Principles
The following design principles serve the purpose of guiding the work of the
planning committee for each annual Learning Day at Valencia
Community College.
- Honor the philosophy for Learning Day developed by academic leadership.
- Provide appropriate balance among these purposes: communication, community
- building, wellness, critical learning, unit level team planning and development, and cross functional process work and learning.
- Everyone attending should receive a full day of value that supports their work at Valencia.
- Provide depth and breadth of programming to meet different levels of needs.
- Include a focus on critical issues/opportunities facing the college in the year ahead (such as the evolving state college system and Valencia’s role).
- Encourage engagement and active involvement in each session.
- Design the program using tracks that relate to the needs we want to meet, providing a clearer means of selecting a learning path through the day.
