SPD Funds Distributed by the College Learning Council
The College Learning Council (CLC) intends to prioritize requests
for SPD funds according to the level of direct impact that proposed
projects or activities can be expected to have on learning. Strong
proposals will include:
- reflection on the potential for long-term gains for students
or the college as a result of applied funds, and
- a description of plans for leveraging applied funds (e.g.
through discipline forums or Leadership Valencia sessions).
In evaluating proposals, the CLC will consider:
- how closely the proposed project or activity is linked to the
requestor's professional responsibilities. For example, if the
requestor is a teaching faculty member, consideration will be
given to the connection between the proposed project or activity
and the specific courses the requestor teaches.
- the likely benefits of the requestor's plans to leverage
applied funds.
- the role of the requestor in the project or activity. For
example, if the requestor intends to attend a conference, will the
requestor make a presentation? If so, is the presentation in
demand? Does it convey fresh information? Does the requestor plan
to follow a specific conference track?
- the timeliness of the request.
- the cost effectiveness of the request.
- previous use of CLC SPD funds by the requestor. The funds are
intended to benefit many members of the college community.
The cover sheet for your proposal must include:
- a brief description of what learning is being sought and how
the request will provide it,
- the name, date, and location of the activity or the time frame
for the project,
- specific dollar amounts for travel, lodging, meals, etc.,
- total dollars requested, and
- dollar amounts funded through other sources, naming the
sources.
