ACTION ITEMS

Minutes

It was noted that Sonya Joseph was not absent from the November meeting.  Rather, Ty Johnson replaced her beginning with that meeting.  The November minutes were corrected and approved.

CLC Bylaws

After discussion and revision, a basic version of the CLC Bylaws was adopted.  Additions are anticipated.

DISCUSSION ITEMS

Program Review for Culinary, Tourism, and Hospitality Management

Jim Ingles (Hospitality Management) and Pierre Pilloud (Culinary Arts) presented highlights from the program review and answered questions from members of the Learning Council.  The review was accepted by the council and Mr. Ingles and Mr. Pilloud were commended for their fine work.

My Portfolio

Linda Anthon reported on use of the Atlas tool “My Portfolio.”

American Association for Higher Education (AAHE) Communities of Practice

Lisa Armour and Karen Borglum submitted the project plan and action items resulting from participation in the 2003 AAHE Summer Academy.  A project named “COPPER,” an acronym for “Communities of Practice: Pooling Educational Resources to Foster Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL)” was launched at the Summer Academy.  It is anticipated that local communities of practice to support the project will be formed as part of Destinations 2004.

Responsibility for Catalog Entries

After discussion, it was decided that designation of individuals responsible for catalog entries should be an administrative task undertaken by an individual rather than the Learning Council.  Joyce Romano volunteered.

Grant Reports (Title III (East and West) and Title V (Osceola))

The reports were accepted by the Learning Council.

Course Outlines

Tracy Edwards briefed council members on the Curriculum Committee’s initiatives related to course outlines.  Virginia Miller is collecting and organizing current course outlines.  Emily Hooker will be working with the Learning Evidence Team to propose a model for future course outlines.  The Curriculum Committee is investigating software products to support their work.

NEXT MEETING
