Immigration Myths & Facts
When it comes to the area of immigration, there are often "quick"
and "simple" questions that have long complex answers. Interaction
can be difficult due to a number of factors, including communication
(English, legalese, and cross-cultural), information from friends
and the media, and a lack of understanding/acceptance of an official
answer. Out of these information gaps, many immigration myths arise.
The following facts
are offered to address the issues highlighted by the myths, they
are not meant to be definitive answers to individual cases or situations.
Students with immigration-related issues should contact International
Student Services.
