Teach Creative Arts
to Youth
The Study Abroad and Global Exchange (SAGE)
office in collaboration with the Internship and Placement
Office is piloting a service learning experience in the village
of La Cucarita, Dominican Republic. There are (two) lead faculty/staff
slots available to accompany the Valencia student group and help
design and implement a creative arts curriculum with school children
in the village.
Travel costs for selected applicants will be covered through
the Study Abroad & Global Exchange (SAGE) budget. Applicants
are responsible for incidental costs.
Selection Criteria:
- Full-time Valencia faculty/staff member
- Willingness to be an active member of the faculty leadership
team
- Willingness and availability to participate in pre-departure
orientation and post-return debriefing sessions
- Experience leading students for educational purposes
- Comfort with rustic living and work settings
- Effective cross-cultural communication skills
- Fluency in Spanish (preferred)
- Creative arts and/or TESOL skills
