Microsoft Wordâ XP: Using Templates

                                                                                                                               

 

  1. Using a General Template

 

    1. From the File menu, choose New.

Text Box: " You can also click on the   button to open a New Document.
 


    1. In the Task Pane, click on General Templates… The following window will appear:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

    1. Click on the Memos tab, and then double click on Professional Memo.

 

    1. A memo template will appear in your document. Select the words Company Name Here and type “Valencia Community College”.

    1. Click in the box next to To: and type the name of the recipient.

 

    1. Complete the information for the rest of the text boxes. (Note that the date is automatically inserted for you.)

 

    1. Delete the text under the divider line and type your own memo text.

 

    1. Click on the Save button (), navigate to your floppy disk, name the file, and click on Save.

 

  1. Using Online Templates

 

    1. Open a new document.  From the Task Pane, click on Templates on Microsoft.com.

 

    1. This will launch Internet Explorer and take you directly to the Microsoft Template Gallery.

 

    1. Scroll down the page until you see the category listing.  Click on For Teachers under Publications and Education.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

    1. Look for templates that have the Word icon () next to them.

 

    1. Click on Lesson Plan to view the preview, then click on .

 

    1. This will download the template into a Word document on your computer.  You can now edit it to fit your needs.

 

    1. Click on the Save button (), navigate to your floppy disk, name the file, and click on Save.
