Microsoft Wordâ XP: Creating Tables

 

 

1.       Creating a Table

 

a.       From the Table menu, choose Insert, then choose Table.

 

b.      In the window that opens, set the number of columns and the number of rows.  Click OK.

 

c.       A table will appear with the insertion point blinking in the first Cell of the table. Type the desired text, then press Tab.

 

d.      The insertion point moves to the next cell.  Type the desired text for this cell, then press Tab again.

 

e.       Repeat the above steps until you have filled in all of the desired text.

 

f.       To Center your Table, click on the four-way pointer () that appears at the top left corner of the table.  This selects the entire table. While the table is selected, click on the Center justification button.

 

g.       While the entire table is still selected, change the Font Size to 12pt, and choose a different Text Color ().

 

h.       Right click on the four-way pointer to see more table options.

 

i.         Choose Distribute Columns Evenly to make the columns equal in width.

 

j.        Choose Borders and Shading…, then click to select All and choose a style, color, and width for the outline of your calendar. 

 

2.       Formatting a Table

 

a.       Click and drag to select all the blank cells.  Right click on your table and choose Table Properties.

 

b.      Click on the Row tab, and specify the height as desired.  Click OK.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

c.       While all the blank cells are still selected, click the Left justified button () on the Formatting toolbar.
