The following questions are the ten most asked about graduation here at Valencia Community College.

1. What do I need to do to graduate? I thought it was an automatic process.
   
   Ans: Graduation is not an automatic process. Students must complete a graduation application. The Graduation Application is available through your Atlas account and requires to be filled out and submitted online.
   
   
2. Does it cost anything to graduate?
   
   Ans: No. All students pay an activity fee, which includes graduation.
   
   
3. Does the graduation application need to be submitted by a certain date?
   
   Ans: Yes, and it needs to be submitted through your Atlas Account.
   (Refer to Important Dates for deadlines)
   
   
4. Can a student that is graduating in August attend the ceremony this year?
   
   Ans: No. The student will have to wait until the next ceremony, which is held the following year, at the end of the Spring Term.
   
   
5. How many guests can I invite to graduation and does each person (including children) need a ticket?
   
   Ans: All guests are required to have a ticket for graduation. Each graduate will receive up to 4 tickets during the initial distribution. Additional tickets will be distributed on a first come first serve basis and is subject to availability.
   
   
6. Will I receive any information about graduation?
   
   Ans: Yes. Acknowledgement of your graduation application will be sent to you. During the session, students with missing documentation will be notified via their Atlas account. Students marching in the commencement ceremony will be sent a detailed letter informing them about ceremony related information about 2- 3 weeks prior to commencement.
   
   
7. What do I wear for graduation?
   
   Ans: The commencement gown is thin, it is recommended that business attire be worn underneath. Ladies - Dresses or Blouse/Slacks , Men - Dress shirt with slacks (tie optional)
   
   
8. I received a regret letter, now what?
   
   Ans: Access your ATLAS account to obtain a degree audit. If you have further questions, come into the Answer Center to seek assistance from a Specialist. Also, please submit a Graduation Application for a future term.
   
   
9. Final Transcripts, when do I request them?
   
   Ans: At any time you may request official transcripts through your ATLAS account. Make sure to indicate HOLD FOR DEGREE if want your transcript to reflect an awarded degree.
   
   
10. When will I know if I did everything I need to do for graduation.
    
    Ans: You can get a degree audit by going to your ATLAS account. If after reviewing the degree audit you need further assistance, please stop by the Answer Center. If you are seeking an AS degree, please see your Career Program Advisor. Your graduation specialist will also be e-mailing you through your ATLAS account. That person will let you know what, if anything you are missing.
