in paperwork? |
The Answer Center should be your first
stop in seeking answers to many of your questions. At
the Answer Center you will find cross-trained Student
Services Specialist knowledgeable of admissions, financial
aid, advising and many other areas. They are available
to work with you on a walk-in basis. The purpose of
the Answer Center is to assist students in completing
the majority of the application and enrollment process
in one location.
Specialists in the Answer Center have the ability to:
clarify initial educational goals,
review the admissions application,
answer financial aid questions and refer students to
financial aid specialists as necessary,
describe the assessment process and direct students
to assessment preparation materials. |

an updated completed Florida Residency form at one of

| Are there entry requirements
or entry tests? |
Yes, before you have attended the New
Student Orientation visit Assessment to take the Computerized
Placement Test (CPT). CPT review materials are available
for purchase in the bookstore.
Degree seeking students must complete the
Computerized Placement Test. Proof of completed college
courses in math and English may be substituted for portions
of the assessment. Also, if you have taken the SAT or
ACT within the last two years and obtained satisfactory
scores as listed in the college's online catalog, you
may waive assessment in those skill areas. |

Student Orientation? |
Yes, after you have completed the Computerized
Placement Score, sign up for a mandatory New Student
Orientation. To sign up for New Student Orientation
log into your Atlas account and click on the New Student
Orientation link.
Attend New Student Orientation. At orientation you
will review the degree programs offered at Valencia,
degree requirements, policy and procedures of the college
and how your placement test impacts your first term
course selection. If your official transcripts have
not been received by Valencia, to ensure proper advisement,
you must have an unofficial copy of your transcripts.
During orientation you will meet with an Educational
Advisor to develop an education plan and select classes. |

from another accredited college or university? |

from all colleges that you ever attended. It is suggested
that you also have your final high school transcripts
or proof of your GED sent to Valencia. |

between degree-seeking and personal interest?

Degree-seeking students are those seeking
an Associate in Arts (A.A.) or an Associate in Science
(A.S.) or Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.
Personal interest students are non-degree seeking students
(personal interest, transient, teacher recertification,
or job improvement) and are not required to submit official
academic transcripts unless needed for verification
of course prerequisites. Official academic transcripts
are not evaluated for non-degree seeking students. |

| What is VPK (Voluntary
Pre-K)? |
A constitutional amendment passed
by Florida's voters in Nov. 2002 required a voluntary
prekindergarten program for all four-year-old children
by fall 2005. The program is designed to prepare four-year-olds
for kindergarten and build the foundation for their
educational success. The program allows a parent to
enroll his or her eligible child (four years old by
September 1 and residing in Florida) in a free VPK program.

Childhood Education. They are Introduction to Early Childhood

|
Valencia's Pre-Majors are designed
for a student who plans to earn the Associate in Arts
Degree and transfer to one of the eleven state universities
in Florida as a junior to complete a bachelor's degree
in one of the specific majors. Each Pre-Major includes
the courses to satisfy Valencia's General Education
requirements for the A.A. Degree and the Statewide Common
Course Prerequisites for the specific major (which count
as the elective credits for the A.A. Degree).

The Associate in Arts (A.A.)
degree parallels the first two years of a four-year

resident for reduced tuition? |
The Florida Residency for Tuition Purposes
form must be completed with the appropriate documentation.
You may use one primary document (a Florida Driver's
License or Florida Identification Card for example)
and provide three additional supporting documents to
prove Florida Residency (for example: copy of lease
agreement and proof of payments for 12 consecutive months;
mortgage documents showing the home was purchased at
least 12 consecutive months ago; copy of one utility
bill (such as electricity or cable television) and proof
of 12 consecutive months of payments; a letter from
your employer stating your date of hire and that you
have been a full-time employee for at least 12 consecutive
