Generic Syllabus Requirements               

IMPORTANT:     PLEASE PROVIDE THE DEPARTMENT WITH A COPY OF A CURRENT SYLLABUS FOR EACH COURSE AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH TERM.

TERM  AND YEAR:     Fall, Spring, Summer Full, Summer A or Summer B

COURSE:     Prefix, Number, Title, Formal Catalog Description (must be consistent with Valencia Catalog information), Credit, Pre or Corequisities, etc.

PROFESSOR:     Name, Title, Faculty Office Location (if applicable), Department Office Location, Faculty Telephone Number and/or Email Information (if applicable), Department Telephone Number, Office Hours (if applicable), Other Contact and Communication Procedures

ACCESS:     Required for adjunct faculty.  Procedures to ensure student access to part-time faculty members must be clearly stated and publicized (SACS Criterion 483).  This should be addressed as a feature of the syllabus (contact instructions, e.g. phone, e-mail, set aside conference time)

MATERIALS:     Required and Recommended Text Information, Additional Supplies, Resources (name and location)

COMPETENCIES:     Include descriptive language on Valencia Student Core Competencies -Think, Value, Act, Communicate (see current Valencia Catalog or web site at:     http://www.valenciacc.edu/competencies/default.asp)

EVALUATION:     Specific Grading Policies and Practices (letter grading scale must be consistent with Valencia Catalog information), Evaluation Criteria (examinations, quizzes, projects, assignments, etc.), Final Examination (must be consistent with information published in Schedule of Classes)

COLLEGE POLICIES:     As appropriate.  Might consider references to Attendance, Academic Dishonesty (10-16), Student Code of Classroom Conduct (10-18)
