Law Enforcement/Corrections Scholarship Program

The Region VII Criminal Justice Institute at Valencia Community College is dedicated to the provision of a quality education for all potential law enforcement and corrections career professionals. Toward that end, the Institute offers a limited number of academic scholarships to assist recipients in need of financial assistance while attending the academy.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must be legal residents of the State of Florida and citizens of the United States. Applicants must have applied to attend the Criminal Justice Institute, and recipients must have been accepted into either a law enforcement or corrections academy. Applicants must complete and submit a formal scholarship application to the Institute office prior to the deadline for each scholarship period. Applications will not be retained from class to class. Demonstration of the need for financial assistance will be given special consideration should all other applicant qualifications prove relatively equal. Members of the Criminal Justice Institute or their immediate family members are not eligible.

AWARDS:

Applications will be reviewed. and recipients will be selected by the Criminal Justice Institute Scholarship Committee. Decisions of the Committee are final pending approval by the Director. Scholarships will be awarded on a class by class basis. Recipients must remain in good standing, and must successfully complete the academy for which they were awarded the scholarship. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the funding. Scholarship applications may be obtained at the Criminal Justice Institute.

ELIGIBILITY:

Applicants must submit a complete FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office.  Applicants must be a resident of Florida.

Applicants must be registered for the Law Enforcement Academy through the Criminal Justice Institute at Valencia Community College.

AWARDS:
