News from Procurement

Did you know that the other 27 Florida Community Colleges have opted to be a part of Valencia's contract with Enterprise Car Rental? After review of our pricing, which includes insurance coverage for business use, Enterprise's statewide locations, and free pick up service, the colleges requested to be included so as to take advantage of these benefits along with Valencia.

The contract pricing from Enterprise is also available to Valencia faculty and staff for personal use. However, the liability coverage provided with the business rate is not included with the personal rate. Personal use provides for the same competitive rental rates, but Valencia staff must provide their own insurance coverage or purchase from Enterprise at the time of rental.

Please visit the Procurement website for Enterprise contract information, including pricing, locations near you and phone numbers. A discount may apply to areas outside of Florida when traveling. Feel free to call the Procurement Office at 407-582-5532 for any additional information on this contract or any procurement issues.

Please be sure to reference the Valencia Corporate Class Number, KC 1258, when reserving a vehicle at any of the seven convenient Orlando Enterprise locations.

Valencia's p-card program is a huge success. Many of your colleagues are already enjoying the benefits of not having to complete supplier profiles, W-9 Forms and filling out paper requisitions for small dollar purchases. The Valencia Master Card is a quick, efficient, hassle free method to transact your small dollar procurement needs. The college's tax exempt number is embossed right on the front of the card so you never have to worry about carrying that awkward form or forgetting the number.

The Valencia Procurement Card is yours for the asking! The application can be found on our web-site. Once completed and signed, personalized training will be set up for you and your staff.

News from Human Resources

Use of Employee ID Numbers now Required on HR and Payroll Forms. Please remember to use an employee identification (ID) number instead of a social security number on forms submitted by or for employees to the Human Resources and Payroll Departments. This change was made in an effort to help prevent identity theft. Lists of employee names and ID numbers were sent to administrators on August 24, 2005 for distribution to managers and supervisors. Supervisors should contact their manager or administrator if they have not received ID numbers for employees in their area. Employee ID numbers can also be found on pay check and direct deposit stubs. Contact Human Resources at extension 1333 if you have any questions.

MANY Career Service Evaluations have already been received in HR. Thanks to supervisors and employees who have taken the time to complete this state mandated task. If you haven't sat down with your supervisor yet, suggest some of your accomplishments to include or your goals for the 05-06 fiscal year.

SUPERVISORS - If you haven't put your thoughts on paper yet concerning the employees you supervise, helpful suggestions are in the evaluation packet sent on July 1. Contact Sue Bouchard, extension 1780, with questions or if you have not received a packet.

"Library" Is Back!

In response to popular demand, common usage, and an evolved concept of the resource, we are returning to the use of the word Library instead of Learning Resources Center (LRC). The change has been made in the current catalog, and signage will be changed gradually along with regularly-scheduled facelifts and remodeling. Please adjust literature and web postings from your own area as you revise and develop materials, especially those intended for students. With everyone's cooperation, we can smoothly ease into this shift. Thanks to all for your help in getting the word out (and the new one in)!

Tutors needed!

The West Campus Tutoring Center is in need of Tutors for all subject areas, especially Accounting, Algebra, Math (all levels), Statistics, all Computer Courses and English. Interested students can apply at the tutoring center, located in SSB-248. Positions pay $6.15 per hour. For more information, please contact Ronald Woodruff ext 1249.
