Televised Concert's a Winner in National Telly Awards

A televised concert special, "Tommy Emmanuel: Live at the Plaza," produced by Valencia Community College's Television Department, has won a bronze National Telly Award for Excellence in Broadcast Television, Entertainment Programs category. Each year the Telly's recognize outstanding video and broadcast production.

The Valencia television special featuring Australian guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel aired over the Christmas holiday. Emmanuel is known throughout Australia and Europe for his extraordinary acoustic style. The Valencia Foundation held the benefit concert with Emmanuel on March 6, 2004, at the Plaza Theatre in Orlando to raise money for student scholarships. The two-hour televised special also featured interviews with the performer and scenes from his master class instruction on Valencia's campuses.

The televised special and DVD were produced by Steve Norman, videotaped and art directed by Hartley Johnson, and edited by Andrew Zimmerman. Others in the production crew included camera operators Rick Stout and Jack Estes; audio technician John Watson; production assistants Nemir Matos-Cintron and Maritza Goodman; and engineers Tony Travis and Buffy Sinanan-Singh.
