'Tis the Season to be Sharing
The East Campus Staff Council will be holding a Holiday Drive until
December 10. Donations will be sent to the Christian Sharing Center
of Longwood, Florida. They are happy to accept donations of:
. New, unwrapped toys
. New and used clothing (clean and good condition)
. Non perishable food items
. Gift wrap, tape, ribbon, bows, etc.
. Gift certificates for stores for older children
. Gifts for mothers
Children from newborns to high school-age will benefit from your
donation. On December 17, eligible parents will go to the
distribution center and pick out 1 large toy and 3 smaller items for
their children. This charity is non-denominational and already has
600 children signed up to participate in this event! Families go
through a strict screening process to be approved to participate.
Times are tough, especially after experiencing 3 hurricanes this
summer. If you can't afford toys or clothing, please feel free to
bring items such as tape, gift wrap or canned goods. This is a local
charity and any donation will help immensely.
If you are interested in donating, please drop off any items
mentioned above to either: Becky Hopkins, Word Processing Center,
East Campus 1-255, ext. 2252 or Toni Pittman, Admissions/Records
Office, East Campus 5-234, ext. 2649.

News from Procurement
All empty printer toner cartridges for recycling should be directed
to the West Campus Shipping and Receiving area, MC 4-9. By returning
the cartridges to our two remanufactured toner companies, we are
able to keep our costs down and pass the savings onto you. We
currently have three minority-owned, local companies who provide us
excellent service and prices that are unbeatable!
Anyone in need of an Oracle 11i Training Manual, please contact
us at valenciaprocurement@valenciacc.edu or call ext. 5532. All we
need is your name and mail code. The manual includes how to run
reports, how to check the status of your requisition or your funds,
how to see if a supplier is in the database, and more!
Our vehicle rental agreement with Enterprise can be found on our
web-site: http://valenciacc.edu/procurement/facultystaff.asp. The
prices listed on the web are for rentals in the State of Florida.
Should you require a rental in another State, our contract allows a
10% discount at that location.
Painless Procurement : Annmarie Wise, Purchasing Agent, held a
Painless Procurement workshop on the West Campus on November 11,
2004. Topics included information found on the Procurement Web-site,
ordering toner cartridges, office supplies, name tags, and how to
run Oracle 11i reports. The class was open to questions and answers.
The next Painless Procurement class will be on Friday, December 10,
2004 on the East Campus, Bldg. 6 Rm. 117 from 2 -3 p.m. by Cali
Campanella.
Since Thanksgiving is around the corner, we include a note along
with all our purchase orders to our vendors. The note states that
the college will be closed November 24 - November 28, therefore,
please do not attempt any deliveries. We want to make sure your
items are received during the correct times during the upcoming
holidays. We will do the same thing prior to Christmas break.
Join Orlando's Premiere Community Chorus
Start this year right by signing up with one of the best community
choruses, Voices of Valencia. This spring, VOV will be featuring
works from the American Film Institute's top 100 movie songs.
Concerts will include a host of new arrangements from AFI's list and
will be a great time for everyone. Join us this spring session as we
will be singing and celebrating our 8th year as one of the most
in-demand community chorus groups in the Orlando area. Our list of
past performance locations includes Arabian Nights, Dixie Stampede,
Epcot's Candlelight Processional, Downtown Disney, and Universal's
Motown Café, just to name a few. It is easy to join. 1) Register for
the Class-Voices of Valencia: MUN 1311, CRN # 24000. 2) Then just
show up the first night of class and be placed in your section - no
audition is required and all levels of experience welcome.

college by December 10. Anyone can join, including students,
faculty, staff, community members, and senior citizens. (Seniors and
dual-enrolled High School students may attend for FREE!) For more
information, contact Director James C. Jones, at 407-568-5585 or

Thank You
Please accept my gratitude to all who have given us such a generous,
overwhelming outcry of affection, support and friendship during this
very difficult time of devastating damage to my home from this
year's hurricanes. I could never adequately express how deeply moved
my family and I are by your demonstration of pure unselfish love. So
many of you have cared so much that I am often brought to tears when
thinking of your kindness. Our thanks stretch to all campuses,
Valencia saved my sanity through my work and through the many
friends I didn't know I had. Thank you.
-Carmen and Carlos Gardell
