Professional Development Opportunity

The Management Team of Connections, funded by the East Campus Title III grant, is beginning the process of forming a Design Team for Spring Term 2005. All Full-Time Faculty and Student Affairs staff from any campus are eligible for this exciting opportunity. At the conclusion of the project, a $2,052 stipend will be paid for a total time commitment of 80 hours spread over Spring and Summer Terms 2005. The work of this Title III grant will concentrate on the integration and assessment of student mastery of the Core Competencies into the Co-Curriculum. Focus will be placed on strategies to assist the Associate of Arts students as they prepare to transition to four year institutions, using the web-based My LifeMap suite of applications. If you are interested in applying for one of these Design Team positions, are able to devote 80 hours during the Spring and Summer Terms, and are willing to commit to pilot test your project design in Fall Term 2005, please contact Anjela Lewis at 407.582.2025 or alewis@valenciacc.edu for an application. Application Deadline: October 15, 2004.

CARE Feline Rescue

NEEDS YOUR HELP

CARE Feline Rescue is a volunteer non-profit group that coordinates a Trap-Neuter-Return program with Orange County Animal Services for feral/wild cats in Orange County. Since 1995 we have helped fix and vaccinate over 10,000 in Orange County.

CARE has entered into an agreement with Valencia Community College West Campus to humanely get the campus cat population under control. We need volunteers to help us with this important project.

CARE will provide instructions and traps, and schedule appointments for FREE surgery and shots for the cats and kittens. We need assistance in trapping, transporting to and from appointments, and socializing and fostering the young kittens.

For more information about volunteering, please call Connie Graham at 407-851-0789 evenings or weekends.
