Learning Evidence Team Needs Your Help

Developing a Culture of Evidence - As Dr. Shugart mentioned in his address at our Academic Assembly, Valencia is fostering a culture of evidence that will document the development of our students' learning while they are with us. This culture of evidence will include assessment conducted at all levels, including: course, program, department and institution. The Learning Evidence Team has been charged with developing a comprehensive assessment plan for the college. This work is currently underway and is displayed on the college Web site at http://valenciacc.edu/learningevidence. If you have ideas about effective assessment practices, please share these with any member of the team or with either of the co-chairs. Members of the Learning Evidence Team are: Andrew Alexander, Aida Diaz, Ann Puyana, Allison Sloan, Cheryl Robinson, David Rogers, Judi Delisle, Jackie Di Martino, Kira Bishop, Linda Anthon, Mike Bosley, Maryke Lee, Melissa Pedone, Philip Bishop, Pat Nellis, Shawn Robinson, Tim Grogan, Will Johnson, Emily Hooker (co-chair) and Roberta Vandermast (co-chair). The Learning Evidence Team welcomes your input!

Attention Supervisors, Managers, and Administrators!

Please be sure to notify Human Resources when a student or part-time hourly employee working for you resigns. If HR is not notified and doesn't terminate their employment, the student or part-time employee will remain "active" in the Oracle HR/Payroll system until no pay has been processed for them for 6 consecutive months.

If the employee is also a student, this delay in terminating employment causes a conflict between Oracle and the Banner system. When a person has a record in both systems, it is critical to update information in both places, or end the employment relationship so Oracle will not reverse information entered into Banner.

Please contact Human Resources at extension 1333 with any questions about terminating student or part-time hourly employees.

Submissions to the Bulletin are encouraged, so please e-mail your achievements, awards, recognitions, and relevant information for the college community to Mary Jane Jones, Staff Assistant in Marketing and Media Relations. Deadline for submission is 5 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding each Friday's distribution. Mary Jane can be reached at ext. 1017 or mjjones@valenciacc.edu.
