Procurement
News
To continue to move the college's Technology Refresh Program
forward, Jeff Kurtz, Technology Refresh Coordinator, will be joining
forces with The Office of Information Technology. This merger
naturally combines the technology experts with the technology
coordinator to provide a coordinated refresh effort. Jeff will work
within the OIT organization to develop new and refined collaborative
processes for technology refresh and college-wide technology
procurement.
This transition
was effective August 9, 2004. Jeff is located in the OIT Department,
Student Services Building, West Campus. Questions regarding
technology refresh should be directed to Jeff at ext. 5541 or Bill
White at ext. 1185.
Mock Election
slated for West Campus
On September 14, West Campus will host a "mock election" to coincide
with Orange County's college-student registration drive. Bill
Cowles, Supervisor of Elections for Orange County, will be on West
Campus to set up voting booths so that students can cast their
ballots during the last half hour of the event.
The goal of this
event is to help students understand the issues that pertain to them
in the upcoming election. There will be food, beverages, pre-event
music, and prizes (for students who actually vote in November). The
mock-election will be held on the outside patio of SSB from
11:30-1:30. If it rains, it will be in 4-120.
CARE Feline
Rescue Needs Your Help
CARE Feline Rescue is a volunteer non-profit group that coordinates
a Trap-Neuter-Return program with Orange County Animal Services for
feral/wild cats in Orange County. Since 1995 we have helped fix and
vaccinate over 10,000 in Orange County.
CARE has entered
into an agreement with Valencia Community College West Campus to
humanely get the campus cat population under control. We need
volunteers to help us with this important project.
CARE will provide
instructions and traps, and schedule appointments for FREE surgery
and shots for the cats and kittens. We need assistance in trapping,
transporting to and from appointments, and socializing and fostering
the young kittens. For more information about volunteering, please
call Connie Graham at 407-851-0789 evenings or weekends.
