There is Still Time to Send in Your Comments on Draft Strategic Objectives for 2008-13
We thank you for taking time to review and reflect on the draft objectives, and to share your thoughts with us. We would appreciate receiving all responses by January 25.
The Strategic Goals and Objectives Task Force would like to invite your thoughts on the draft strategic objectives developed for each of our four strategic goals for 2008-13.
The objectives were developed over the fall term by four volunteer goal teams. The goals teams, in turn, submitted their work to the volunteer Strategic Goals and Objectives Task Force, which merged the work of the four goal teams.
The four goals, which were approved by the Board of Trustees in September 2007 following collegewide comment and the draft objectives for each goal may be found at: http://www.valenciacc.edu/strategicplan/documents/CPCGoalsandObjectivesfortheWebSiteJan32008.pdf
These goals and objectives arose from a number of meetings held at the college and with the community during 2006-07, as we launched our strategic planning process for 2008-13.
The teams that developed the goals and objectives worked hard to remain true to the comments made by the hundreds of people who participated in these discussions.
Also, the teams sought to build on work underway at the college, so that the 2008-13 plan will pave the way to carry that work forward and achieve new levels of results.
Members of the Strategic Goals and Objectives Task Force will be visiting with groups around the college in January to discuss the draft objectives and to listen to participants’ thoughts. The first of these meetings will take place with faculty senates on January 10, 2008.
Also, you are invited to submit comments to College Planning Council co-chairs Suzette Dohany (sdohany@valenciacc.edu) or Susan Kelley (skelley@valenciacc.edu) at any time.
Based on all comments received, the Strategic Goals and Objectives Task Force will finalize the objectives for presentation to the College Planning Committee in February and to the Board of Trustees in April.
Procurement News
Green Fact - Make saving our planet a part of your daily life with easy changes. Turn off cars instead of idling in the parking lot. Idling 10 minutes less per day can keep 550 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the air every year. For more information visit http://enginesoff.blogspot.com/.
Departmental Copiers - Multi-functional units have been leased and purchased by the college in order for departments to have the functionality of printing, copying, faxing and scanning all in one piece of equipment. This one unit takes the place of desktop printers, desktop fax machines and desktop scanners as well as small copy jobs.
Any large copy jobs should be sent to the copy centers which are equipped to handle rush and large orders. Production machines are installed at our copy centers that can copy and print jobs at a rate of 105 pages per minute. Departmental copiers are designed for small jobs at a rate of 35 or 45 pages per minute, depending on the model number.
Procurement Cardholders - Did you know that you have resources at your fingertips to conveniently check your P-Card’s available spending balance?
You can check your available balance by:
- Calling the JPMorgan Chase Cardmember Service’s “800” number found on the back of your credit card.
- Running Payment’s Cardholder Status report (step-by-step instructions for running this report can be found at the back of your manual.)
Give it a try; it’s fast and easy!
Strategic Equipment List - The FY 07/08 Strategic Equipment List is 95% completed. If you have not submitted your approved items on Form B, please e-mail them to the Group Wise account: Strategic Equipment List@valenciacc.edu
Updated Supplier List - A recent download of all finance suppliers can be found on the Atlas Web page under the Finance tab. Suppliers are entered as they report to the IRS. DBA names are found on the first line of the address. We currently have 182 companies set up as DBA’s (Doing Business As). The DBA name is what most people are familiar with. Be sure to review the first line of the address for your vendor. If you need help, please call ext. 5532.

Whether you have pre-diabetes, Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, following the instructions you have been given about eating, medication and exercise is very important. Diabetes is a serious illness, but if you are careful to do the things your doctor tells you to help manage it, you can still live a full life.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida is committed to helping educate Floridians about the dangers of diabetes and to partnering with our members and providers to help prevent this deadly disease.
Please join us for this brown bag lunch to learn more about diabetes and have your questions answered by a qualified professional. Sponsored by the Valencia Wellness Program.
