Your Comments Are Invited on Draft Strategic Objectives for 2008-13
The Strategic Goals and Objectives Task Force would like to invite your thoughts on the draft strategic objectives developed for each of our four strategic goals for 2008-13.
The objectives were developed over the fall term by four volunteer goal teams. The goals teams, in turn, submitted their work to the volunteer Strategic Goals and Objectives Task Force, which merged the work of the four goal teams.
The four goals, which were approved by the Board of Trustees in September 2007 following collegewide comment and the draft objectives for each goal may be found at: http://www.valenciacc.edu/strategic plan/documents/CPCGoalsandObjectivesfortheWebSiteJan32008.pdf
These goals and objectives arose from a number of meetings held at the college and with the community during 2006-07, as we launched our strategic planning process for 2008-13.
The teams that developed the goals and objectives worked hard to remain true to the comments made by the hundreds of people who participated in these discussions.
Also, the teams sought to build on work underway at the college, so that the 2008-13 plan will pave the way to carry that work forward and achieve new levels of results.
Members of the Strategic Goals and Objectives Task Force will be visiting with groups around the college in January to discuss the draft objectives and to listen to participants’ thoughts. The first of these meetings will take place with faculty senates on January 10, 2008.
Also, you are invited to submit comments to College Planning Council co-chairs Suzette Dohany (sdohany@valenciacc.edu) or Susan Kelley (skelley@valenciacc.edu) at any time.
Based on all comments received, the Strategic Goals and Objectives Task Force will finalize the objectives for presentation to the College Planning Committee in February and to the Board of Trustees in April.
We thank you for taking time to review and reflect on the draft objectives, and to share your thoughts with us. We would appreciate receiving all responses by January 25.

News from Procurement
Banner Requisitions
It is no longer necessary to check ‘Document Level Accounting’ when entering a new requisition into Banner. Although your original Banner manual may ask you to check it (or you may have been instructed to check it in training), we have discovered that there is a lot more functionality by leaving ‘Document Level Accounting’ unchecked. For example, it’s easier to pay invoices against the resulting purchase order and it’s easier to create a change order.
The updated version of Tab 4 - Creating a Requisition, has been posted on the Atlas Web site. Please download and replace in your training manual.
PaymentNet Budget Listing
PCardholders: If you need to charge a budget but it does not appear in the PaymentNet listing, please contact Kacy Weekes at ext.1974 to have it added to the list prior to the weekly download.
Copier/toner scams
Approximately every six months someone at the college falls for a toner cartridge scam. Vendors call and ask if you need a toner cartridge for your printer or copier. Sometimes they even are lucky enough to guess your printer or copier model. When you agree, they send you the merchandise and then bill the college three times what the cartridge is worth. This is an old scam.
All printer and copier toners are negotiated through the Procurement Office. Our preferred vendors will NEVER call you. Toners are ordered as needed. If a vendor is calling you, and you are not sure, please direct their call to the Procurement Office. We will verify the validity of the call and handle accordingly.
