Human Resources News
Federal Government Issues Revised I-9 Form - On November 7, 2007, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that a revised Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) is now available. Effective immediately, the I-9 form dated June 5, 2007 is the only acceptable version. Please destroy all previous versions and begin using the revised form today. The form is available online at www.uscis.gov or you may call Human Resources at extension 8033 to request a copy.
Older versions of the I-9 form will only be accepted in Human Resources for a few days. The new form will then be required for all new hires and re-hired employees. These instructions primarily apply to supervisors/managers who hire adjunct, part time hourly, and work study employees. Full time employees come to Human Resources for an orientation and complete the I-9 form here in our office.
Please contact Human Resources at extension 8033 if you have any questions.
Upcoming Achieving the Dream Summit
On January 4, 2008 from 9-11 a.m. we will be gathering for a Summit on Achieving the Dream in the CJI Auditorium. The team will share data from the Student Success/Three Prep Mandate in anticipation of a Student Success/Two Prep Mandate. Lisa Armour and Kevin Mulholland will facilitate a question and answer session after the team presents its data. This is the faculty's opportunity to have a voice in the decision. A vote will be taken at the end of the Summit and the faculty's recommendation will be brought forward to the January 9, 2008 Curriculum meeting.
Leadership Valencia’s Final Offerings for Fall
Institutional Review Board (IRB) Training, Part One - A workshop to train faculty and staff in the college's new Institutional Review Board (IRB) process. November 30, 9-11 a.m., Osceola Campus, Room 1-232, registration code: PIRB1-6.
Institutional Review Board (IRB) Training, Part Two - A workshop to train faculty and staff in the college's new Institutional Review Board (IRB) process. Total Engagement/Authentic Engagement - Have you ever paid total attention to anything? Have you ever had anyone pay total attention to you? Is it even possible? Can you imagine the possibilities in being totally engaged? This hands-on participatory, lots-of-fun workshop is all about getting your teeth into something big, finding passion, and diving in fully. Strange and intentionally foreign-sounding topics will include but not be limited to: learning to stay, listening without anchorage, leaving the shore, following the showing, being a contribution, grope vs. rote, curiosity, courage, creativity, what to do when you're lost and wherever you are, you may call here. NOTE: All activities that are to count toward a full-time faculty member’s Professional Development Plan need to be approved in advance by their dean or director. Please direct questions to Jim Belcher, JBelcher@ValenciaCC.edu. November 27, 1-4 p.m., East Campus, Room 3-113, registration code: LTE.
Formation: A Little Lunch, A Little Literature, and A Lot of Lively Discussions - Bring your lunch and join us for LUNCH and LITERATURE.
