News from Procurement
Online ordering with Office Depot is for consumable office supplies
only. In order to purchase items from Office Depot, an Oracle Purchase
Order or use of your P-Card is necessary to place orders.
The GL used for online orders is 655010 or 655020 (depending on
your account). Consumable supplies include items such as pens, pencils,
tablet pads, sticky notes, paper clips, folders, hanging folders,
etc. Items not to be purchased online are any type of equipment
or furniture, including digital cameras, fans, typewriters, safes,
microwaves, refrigerators, fax machines, printers, file cabinets,
desks, etc.
Equipment or furniture orders are not permissible for online ordering
with Office Depot. Please contact the Procurement Office for these
needs.
Types of personal or departmental items that the college does not
pay for out of operational funds are coffee, tea, sugar, candy,
paper products (cups, bowls, plates), plastic silverware, over the
counter medicine, band aids, tissues, clocks, cleaning supplies,
bottled water, etc.
Office cleaning is a service provided by the Plant Operations office
collegewide. Any issues regarding office cleaning should be directed
to the Plant Operations office on your campus.
Copier and printer paper orders should be directed to the Copy
Centers located on your campus. Special paper can be ordered for
you through this office.
All toner cartridges and name tags are ordered by the Procurement
Office via the Web site: http://valenciacc.edu/procurement/facultystaff.
Procurement will create the purchase order and notify you when the
order has been placed.
Attn: P-Cardholders & Card Coordinators - Provisions should
be made for a reliable alternate to review and/or approve your P-Card
transactions in case of an absence from the college. The review
and approval of transactions is a requirement of the P-Card program
and is also good practice in verifying the accuracy and legitimacy
of your purchases. It is also an audit criticism if transactions
are not reviewed and or approved. Thanks for your attention to this
important detail.
A warm and heartfelt goodbye to Aida Gonzalez, our supplier specialist.
Aida has accepted a position at the Osceola Campus in the Student
Development department. Aida has served four great years under Procurement,
and we will be working closely with her in her new role. Best of
luck Aida!

Kudos
Valencia graphics students recently competed against 19 other Florida
schools, both 2- and 4-year schools, at the annual Florida Print
Awards and took home a total of 11 awards. Carine Carmack
won the Student Best of Show ; Susanne Toole
and Katherine Fillingim both won Best of Category;
Phyllis Hanson won an Award of Excellence plus
four Judge's Honorable Mentions; and Theresa Degler, Holly
Smith and Anabela do Rosario all received
a Judge's Honorable Mention.
On the heels of the Florida Print Awards, a famous web design critic,
who is due to speak at Valencia this fall, has posted an extremely
positive remark about our students and their work on his own Web
site: http://www.cameronmoll.com/archives/001076.html. "On
a final note, I've been in Florida twice the last month alone, and
both times I've been close to Orlando , narrowly missing one of
the state's best kept secrets for aspiring graphic designers. Valencia
Community College runs, from what I can tell, an impressive program
for graphic design students, led by Amanda Kern
and other talented professors."
Thank you
A special thanks to all the colleagues who made my years at Valencia
memorable. Those who came to the party for me and who contributed
to my going away gifts as well as the folks who did all the work
to make the party happen are forever in my heart.
- Dris Hallock
