and methods that help you save on estate taxes. The four basic documents
- wills, healthcare surrogate, durable power of attorney and living
wills -will be discussed. We will also weigh the costs and benefits
of a will versus a revocable living trust and discuss planned charitable
giving strategies that benefit you today and your charity tomorrow.

News from Procurement
Office Depot online ordering - some of you have reported
that you are experiencing difficulty with online ordering from Office
Depot. Although the exact cause for the problems has not been determined,
there are some things that you can do that may help. A build-up
of cookies (not the tasty ones) on end-user computers can cause
errors to occur. Please clean out the cookies on your hard drive.
If you need assistance, contact OIT at ext. 5555. If you still have
an issue once you have cleared your cookies, please call the Office
Depot E-Commerce Support Desk at 1-800-269-6888 at the time you
place the order. They can view Internet details to help resolve
the issue.
Using State of Florida contracts - when requesting purchases
from State of Florida contracts, please have the vendor reference
the contract number on their quotation and enter the contract number
on your requisition. Procurement will verify the contract number,
items ordered and expiration date to insure proper documentation
for audit reviews.
General ledger codes - ever have a question about which
general ledger code to use? You can obtain a list of general ledger
codes and descriptions for what they should be used for by going
to the Valencia Website and clicking on the Faculty & Staff
tab. Then under Employee Resources choose Chart of Accounts. When
that page comes up, click on General Use and a PDF file will open
with the information. It can be downloaded for printing. If you
have further questions about general ledger codes, please contact
the Finance/Budget Department.
Push for Pencils Campaign Goes Collegewide
Collegewide Staff Council kicks off the 2nd annual A Gift for
Teaching supply drive on September 1. The drive, "Push for
Pencils," will be a collegewide endeavor drawing sponsorship and
participation from AAWCC, Faculty Association, SGA, PTK, FACC, Professional
Staff Council, Valencia Volunteers, Alumni Association, Student
Development, Valencia 's bookstores along with all faculty, staff
and students.
Our goal is to help a local non-profit organization, A Gift
for Teaching , meet the needs of the community by collecting
school supplies for distribution in its free store for teachers.
A simple donation of basic supplies such as new pencils, crayons,
glue, paper and books will give students the tools they need to
achieve success. Shop at any Valencia bookstore for the supply drive
and receive a 20 percent discount when you show your VID card on
the top four items: pencils, crayons, glue and paper.
Beginning September 1, contributions can be dropped off at any
campus bookstore or library. The Downtown Center collection boxes
will be available at elevators on the second, third and fourth floors.
Valencia Enterprises donations will be collected in the lobby next
to the Security Desk. Updates on additional locations will be given
as they become available.
If you hate the shopping scene, consider a monetary donation instead.
For every $1 received at A Gift for Teaching , $10 worth
of supplies goes back to a classroom in Orange , Seminole and Osceola
counties. Tax-deductible contributions can be made in the Valencia
Business Office on any campus.
Let your heart rule your generosity. For more information about
A Gift For Teaching, please visit their Web site at: . For more
information about the Push for Pencils supply drive, contact Priscilla
Gray at or call ext. 6816.
