News from Procurement
On-line ordering with Office Depot is for consumable office supplies
only. Types of personal or departmental items that the college does
not pay for out of operational funds (Fund 1) are: coffee, tea,
sugar, candy, paper products (cups, bowls, plates), plastic silver
ware, over-the-counter medicine, band aids, tissues, clocks, cleaning
supplies and bottled water.
Paper requisitions should only be used to make a request for payment
and encumber funds for items that can not be requested on an Oracle
requisition. Specific items are: employee reimbursements, SPD and
travel. If you have received an invoice, a purchase order will not
be created after the fact. Please submit your invoice with a paper
requisition for payment and an explanation as to why proper procedures
were not followed. If using SPD funds, you must send your paper
requisitions to the SPD office at mail code 3-1.
If traveling, the FA-33 Authorization for Travel form must be attached
with any pertinent travel-related information.

fulfill the role of parliamentarian; and retired Valencia employee
and community volunteer Betty Palmer will continue as historian.
The Valencia Alumni Association helps Valencia’s alumni stay
in touch with one another and with the college. Extensive service
is contributed through volunteerism, student scholarship and award
recognition programs, and special educational and networking events.
“We start this year with great enthusiasm,” stated President
Justine Jenkins. “This promises to be an exciting year with
fresh ideas and special programs tailored to benefit Valencia students,
alumni and the community, each of whom has unique needs and interests.”

Kudos
In July, the East Campus Staff Council awarded Grapevine awards
to the following employees:
Colleen Vasquez: Colleen stepped up and took charge
when the Security Office was understaffed. She made sure all payroll
was processed in absence of supervisors and the staff assistant.
She kept the office running on an even keel. GREAT JOB COLLEEN!
Ross Griffith: Ross consistently exceeds expectations
and provides exemplary customer service. Recently, he observed that
students were unable to see the Library operating hours from outside
the front doors, after hours. He made the recommendation to post
a sign near the front doors to alert students of the hours of operation.
In July, the signs were posted to promote better student-centered
customer service. GREAT JOB ROSS!
If you are interested in nominating an East Campus Career Staff
Employee for a Grapevine award, please email bhopkins@valenciacc.edu
for a nomination form.
