Procurement News

Doing Business with Valencia - In order to conduct business with Valencia all businesses must complete a Supplier Business Profile and a W-9 form. Both forms are available to download from Procurement’s website at http://www.valenciacc.edu/procurement/vendor.asp.

Purchasing Card FAQ. Q: How do I dispute a charge on my PCard Account? A: The cardholder should promptly contact the vendor first to dispute a charge. Most disputes such as sales tax charges, duplicate charges, or incorrect sales amounts can be easily resolved by calling the vendor. If the vendor fails to credit your account, notify Procurement at ext. 1974 then take the following steps:

  • From the transaction list screen, click on the transaction.
  • Click pdf.
  • Confirm your e-mail address is correct and enter the merchant state, if empty.
  • Choose the ‘dispute reason’ from the drop-down box. PaymentNet will refresh and may require additional field input.
  • Enter text in ‘additional information’ about your dispute.
  • Click pdf.
  • Red text will appear, providing a link to a pre-populated Adobe PDF form to be signed and faxed to JPMorgan Chase.

Valencia’s Brain Bowl team won the National Academic Quiz Tournaments Intercollegiate Tournament title for community colleges recently at Washington University in St. Louis. This marks Valencia's fifth community college national championship in the seven years this tournament has existed. The team was comprised of Tristan Byers, Lyndsay Harvey, Greg Kazaros, Ian Mackenzie, Chris Muto, and Lane Silberstein. Much credit for the team's success goes to Boris Nguyen and to Lois McNamara, the latter of whom still puts in numerous hours helping the team, despite having officially retired. Credit goes also to Tiffany Tierno and Chanda Torres of Student Activities, Vivian Martin of the provost's office on West, the security and custodial personnel at West, and every other staff and faculty member who has provided assistance and instruction to the team this year.

Tim Shattuck and Thomas Traver have been placed on a list of Best Management Practices as certified individuals at the University of Florida. They successfully met all requirements necessary to be fully trained through the Green Industries Best Management Practices Program developed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection with the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. The Green Industries Best Management Practices (BMPs) are designed to preserve and protect Florida's water resources from non-point-source pollution. The BMPs cover proper fertilization, pest control, irrigation, and cultural practices for landscape and pest control professionals. Knowledge of appropriate fertilizer rates, sources, and application methods can greatly reduce any potential non-point source pollution of Florida's ground and surface waters.
