CPT- Facts and Fiction

• I can fail the CPT.
...Fiction. The CPT is a placement test. You can't fail.

• If I don't do well on the CPT, I won't get into Valencia.
...Fiction. As long as you graduated from high school or have a GED, you're in.

• I need my Valencia ID number to take the test.
...Fact. You need a Valencia ID number to test at Valencia.

• If I don't like my score on the CPT, I can take it again.
...Fiction. You can retake the CPT only after attending a CPT Review Sessions.

• I can get my scores immediately.
...Fiction. You will receive your scores at orientation.

• I need to make an appointment to take the CPT.
...Fiction. You can just walk in during testing hours.

• All I need to bring is a picture ID, such as a driver's license.
...Fact. Just to be sure it is you taking the test.

• The CPT takes about 2 hours.
...Fact. The test is not timed, but plan for 2 hours to be safe.

• Are there any exemptions to the CPT?
...Yes! There are two (2) ways to be exempt from the CPT:

1) Take the SAT-1, the Enhanced ACT, or the FCAT (within the last two years), and receive scores at or above those listed in the table below:
