CLASP - The College Level Academic Skills Program

The College Level Academic Skills Program (CLASP), created by the Florida State Board of Education, requires students to demonstrate proficiency in communication and computation prior to graduating.

Students aspiring to receive an A.A. degree or to transfer to a university with 60 or more credits, must meet the requirements of the CLASP.

CLASP proficiency is tested through the College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST).

CLAST testing focuses on four academic areas: English Language Skills, Reading, Essay and Mathematics.

There are alternative ways to meet the requirements.

Education majors must take and pass all parts of the CLAST or General Knowledge Test to register for upper-level Education courses at a 4-year institution.

CLASP requirements do not apply to the A.S. degree candidates.
