PROCEDURE FOR TAKING THE CJ BAT EXAM

  1. Obtain a Valencia Application from the Answer Center (East 5- 211, Osceola 1-150, West SSB-106). Complete the application.
  2. Obtain a CJBAT Referral from the Assessment Center (East 5-237, Osceola 1-127, West SSB-235).
  3. Pay the $35.00 Valencia application fee and the $30.00 non-refundable, non-transferable CJBAT fee in the Business Office (East 5-214, Osceola 1-155, West SSB-101).
  4. Leave your application in the Business Office.
  5. Return the CJBAT Referral to the Assessment Center to test.

The CJ BAT is given at the Assessment Centers on the East, Osceola, and West Campuses. The CJBAT is given on a walk-in basis Monday through Thursday 8am - 4pm and Friday 8am - 2pm* (summer hours 8am - 9am).

When you arrive at the Assessment Center to test, you will need to follow the proper check-in procedures, present your government-issued photo ID, listen carefully and follow all instructions. Any infraction of the rules will be considered cheating, and you will be dismissed from the test.

You will have two hours and thirty minutes (2 1/2 hours) to complete 120 multiple-choice questions that will assess your language, visualization, memorization and reasoning skills. Be sure to pace yourself so that you complete the entire exam. If you finish early, use the extra time to go over the test and check your answers. There is no bonus for finishing early. Use your time wisely. You will receive your scores at the completion of testing.

There are three forms of the CJBAT. If the test is not passed, candidates may retake a different form immediately. Candidates may not retake the same form within a 6 month period. In addition candidates will be restricted to taking three (3) CJBAT tests within a 12 month period.

A study guide is available from I/O solutions, the developer of the CJ BAT exam. The study guide includes detailed descriptions of all the types of questions you will find on the exam, additional sample questions and a practice exam for both law enforcement and correctional officers. The study guide may be ordered by calling 1-708-410-0100, or visit www.ifpra.com or www.iosolutions.org

Agency sponsored personnel will be provided with a letter of authorization stating what test they will be taking and that the agency will cover the cost of the test. You will need this letter the day you test. This letter must be obtained from the Criminal Justice Institute at 407-582-8200.

For additional information about the test and what is included on the test, visit the manufacturer’s website at www.iosolutions.org
