Program Description:

If you're fascinated by the inner workings of the human body, then consider becoming a sonographer. When a doctor needs to check out a patient's organs such as the liver, it is the sonographer who provides the images by transmitting high frequency sound waves into the patient's body via ultrasound. You may also get to share in an experience most people remember for a lifetime - providing the first glimpse of an expectant mother's unborn child. Graduates will be qualified for roles such as a:

Typical Tasks May Include:

  • positioning the patient's body so that the correct areas can be seen on an ultrasound screen
  • performing sonograms and recording normal anatomy and pathologic data for interpretation
  • analyzing and presenting diagnostic data for interpretation and diagnosis by the physician
