Program Description:
Does saving lives appeal to you? Cardiovascular
technologists work side-by-side with cardiologists to diagnose
and treat heart disease. You'll use the latest medical technology
to conduct tests on pulmonary or cardiovascular systems of
patients and assist in electrocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations
and similar tests. You'll be prepared to start your career

Typical Tasks May Include:
working closely with the physician in caring for cardiac patients
assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease and blood vessel ailments
assisting the cardiologist with cardiac catheterization and balloon angioplasty procedures
monitoring patients' blood pressure and heart rate
Characteristics Students Need to be Successful:
Enjoy working in small group team environment
Strong self constitution and able to function in fast-paced, stressful environment
Able to function and focus for long periods of time with little movement while in complete surgical attire. This involves ability to wear about 30 lbs of lead shielding. Can not have issues with claustrophobia.
Good hand/eye coordination and spatial skills
Strong science, anatomy & physiology, and math background with emphasis in fluidic & electrical physics
Enjoy working with lots of technological equipment. Strong computer skills.
