Institutional Research Meet the Staff

Jeffrey Cornett, Managing
Director, Institutional Research
The Director oversees the productive output of the Office
of Institutional Research, which includes data and information
related to enrollment planning, student performance, state
of Florida reporting requirements, and college-identified
indicators of progress. The department also maintains electronic
reporting tools for the college faculty, staff, and administration,
and the Director works closely with the Office of Information
Technology. As large contributors to the College's culture
of evidence, considerable emphasis is placed on providing
data and analysis regarding student learning and outcomes.

Alys Arceneaux, Manager, Institutional
Research
Alys oversees the preparation of State, Federal and private
agency reports. She attends state and local meetings to remain
current with reporting requirements and shares concerns and
insights about data quality and feasibility. She works closely
with the Offices of Information Technology, Registrar, Human
Resources, Financial Aid, and Facilities to ensure accuracy
of Banner data, reports, and databases submitted to the State.
She prepares FTE reports and projections, ad hoc reports,
and coordinates and completes surveys for external agencies.
Alys is the IRLA member of the Atlas Process Improvement Team,
the Calendar Committee, and is Valencia’s Reports Coordinator
for the FLDOE Management Information System Advisory Task
Force.

Michal Ewing, Research Analyst
Michal is responsible for researching, writing, and editing
internal and external reports and analyses for publication
and distribution within and outside Valencia. She created
and maintains the IRLA internet website. Michal fields internal
and external information/data requests received via the IRLA
website, email, and interoffice mail by helping users to select
accurate criteria for for their requests. She coordinates,
edits, and prepares the Statistical History Fact book and
the Instructional Productivity Report. Michal also works with
academic areas to promote data accuracy and modifications. |

Donna Kosloski, Technical Director, Information
Systems Donna is responsible for analyzing
and preparing the Credit Registration Report each term. She
maintains and creates data queries and reports throughout
each term and also prepares ad hoc reports as needed. She
also administers the Cognos website, maintaining Cognos security
and supporting Cognos users, and is the primary trainer for
Cognos Query and Impromptu. In addition, she assists users
with Access databases. She represents the department on Valencia
's Budget and Financial Advisory Group and on FACC's Occupational
and Workforce Development Commission. |

Daryl Davis, Technical Director, Decision
Support Systems Daryl prepares ad hoc reports in response
to user requests as well as recurring reports such as the
Student Characteristics, Market Share, and Instructional Productivity
reports. His analyses are based upon extracts from data sources
and systems throughout the college. Using the SAS System as
his primary programming tool, he maintains specialized databases
and assists in the development of new data sources. |

Larry Rosen, Database Administrator
Larry produces ad hoc reports and analyses of Valencia data
that are requested by College staff, faculty, or administrators.
He works with Cognos Query, Valencia's online business intelligence
query software, designing and maintaining the data models
and associated database objects that enable end-users' queries
to be built. He does the database work and programming for
the Credit Registration Report. He represents IRLA on designated
College taskforces and committees. |
