Each year Valencia publishes the Statistical History Fact Book.
It is a compilation of data intended to support academic and administrative
planning and decision-making. Much of the data presented in this
document describe the College's experiences during the most immediate
past year; however, comparative information with one, and often
two, prior years is displayed when appropriate. In addition, the
inclusion of a complete copy of the College's Strategic Indicators
Report (SIR) within this publication provides a comprehensive
reference document for college constituents as well as for other
parties interested in Valencia 's progress toward achieving its
strategic goals. A brief summary of the general content included
in both (Statistical History and SIR) segments of this publication
follows.
The Statistical History, through displays of
selected data, presents a quantitative overview of Valencia Community
College as well as selected dimensions of its service area (Orange
and Osceola counties). The broad topics detailed in this document
include information about the College's student body, personnel,
and financial resources. In general, most data are descriptive
in nature and sometimes include comparative data from previous
years. In addition to collegewide data displays, several types
of student data are presented by campus. Readers are invited to
consult the glossary for definitions and clarification of unfamiliar
terms. The Statistical History is designed as additional support
for the College's major planning document, the Strategic Learning
Plan. This edition marks the nineteenth year of publication of
the Statistical History at Valencia.
The
Strategic Indicators Report (SIR) incorporates State
of Florida accountability measures as well as Valencia 's self-defined
student performance and student success indicators, which are
outlined in the College's Strategic Learning Plan (SLP). The SIR
includes both graphical and tabular data, which are complemented
with explanatory narrative and summary-level analyses. The SIR
is designed as a primary progress report on the action items and
goals presented in the SLP. Additional detail and analysis regarding
several key indicators are also presented in the College's Learning
Indicators Report, which is published separately.
