New Florida Minimum Wage

Effective January 1, 2009, Florida's Minimum Wage increased to $7.21/hr. The Federal Minimum Wage is scheduled to increase to $7.25/hr effective July 24, 2009. Valencia has decided to move directly to the new Federal rate effective 1/1/09. Part-time Hourly and Student positions, which were paid at $6.79/hr, will be paid $7.25/hr effective January 1, 2009. This change affects:

§  Institutional Work-study Students

§  Federal Work-study Students

§  Part-time Student Assistants

Human Resources has already taken the necessary action to comply with the new regulations.

Note:  There is nothing that needs to done on the employees part.
